Popular points – Ki3 & Ki6 Locate & Needle (V)

Kidney 3 – Bubbling Spring (Taixi)

We normally tonify this point but we do not angle it so we needle perpendicularly with a blue needle to about 0.5 cun depth. In China they do sometimes needle right through to connect with Bl 60 on the other side of the ankleShu Stream – Yuan Source – Earth point

Kidney 6 – Shining Sea (Zhoahai)

Note: Ki6 is not covered in this module but I have included it here since it is on the video.

Not quite as popular as Ki 3 but worth a mention because it is used in the treatment of Ren Mai (Xtra Ordinary Vessel). We would use a blue needle and needle perpendicularly. The area is quite tight to needle and depth only about 0.3 – 0.5 cun

  • 1 cun below the prominence of the medial malleolus in the grove formed by two bundles of ligaments. You may need to move the foot around to feel for this point as shown in the video. There is normally a large palpable tendon and the point is needled poster to it. This is a point where you may need to angle the needle to find Qi dependent upon individual anatomy and circumstances
